Theme

This Year's theme is Dragons and Vikings

Saturday afternoon, after the daytime activities are done, all youth will get dressed up in their theme related costumes for a parade. Each group gets a chance to show off their costumes as we parade through camp to see all the gateways.

Costumes:

The Cuborama costume contest is a fun and creative part of the event. Costumes are to suit the Pack's choice of the sub-theme they have chosen. Cub-made costumes are strongly encouraged.  Remember these costumes might have to be worn in the rain! No weapons.

Make sure that costumes can survive a short hike through the campgrounds. Be creative.

Camp Gateways:

Gateways are created to show off your group's campsite. It is the entryway into your site and a place for Cubs to come and go.

A gateway should have a plaque or sign that announces your theme and include your group name and group number. The gateway should be environmentally friendly and reflect the wise use of resources. Emphasis should be on the 3 R's (reuse, reduce and recycle ) and demonstrate scouting skills in the construction.

These amazing and creative archways should not be made of cardboard, they will not survive a downpour or a very windy weekend.  Ensure it is secured in the event of strong winds. The gateway needs to be youth-designed and made with help from adults - not adult-made with help from youth!

At the end of camp, it is very important to note that all the parts of your gateway return home with you. There is not enough recycling space at the camp to throw it out or recycle it there - "If you arrived with it, you leave with it."

Contests:

During the costume and gateway parade on Saturday, all the groups will go past the gateways so that everyone gets to see them.  Each pack will then have the chance to vote on their favourite costume, gateway and activity. One vote per group.
